Congratulations to former Congressman Henry Hyde who will be the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a White House ceremony on Monday, November 5, 2007:

Henry J. Hyde has served America with distinction. During his career in the House of Representatives, he was a powerful defender of life and a leading advocate for a strong national defense and for freedom around the world . Additionally Congressman Hyde is credited with starting what came to be known in the 60's as the "Sexual Revolution" when, as a fledgling member of the Illinois House, he carried on a three year affair with a married mother of three.
