The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of some of youse guys...
MATTHEWS: No, I‘m just asking a particular question. Would you like to enlist in this war?
MATTERA: No, because I‘m fighting a separate battle. I‘m fighting—we‘re fighting the culture war here, but I‘m also supporting the battle that‘s raging in Iraq.
MATTHEWS: Well, what kind of people should fight in this war, if not you?
MATTERA: Those who want to, those who want—who feel the desire, who have the passion to go over to Iraq. I have many friends who are in Iraq myself, people from my church, people who I graduated with.
As this Veterans Day winds down, we salute the Mighty Patriots at the Young America's Foundation who in turn salute the Mighty Patriots in our fighting forces with this high quality video featuring the shitty music of Bill Joel:
I think it is only fair to point out that when the members and staff at Young America's Foundation hear Billy Joel's impassioned cry that "We will all go down together" that the "we all" part must sound a lot like "you all" because a cursory look at the National Headquarters Staff indicates that they are woefully thin when it comes to veterans. The exception being (he of the wicked cool Sgt Rock-ish name) Flagg Youngblood whose received the Meritorious Service Medal for his service as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Battle For Fallujah Fairfield, California where he supervised a bunch of MP's just in case we had to fight them here instead of, you know, over there.
Meanwhile, feeling the need to shore up their ranks with the Best and the Brightest, the Young America's Foundation held a West Coast Leadership Conference this past weekend and invited influential policy commentators Rusty from the The Jawa Report, Ace O' Spades, and Godlstein to attend.
