There oughta be a Nobel for third-rate Woody Allen movies.... Earlier in the week Roger Simon was doing everything he could to sneer at the Nobel Commitee because all the Cool Neo-cons were doing it:
The Nobel Prize for Literature will be announced Thursday. This is the award, you will recall, that often makes the Peace Prize look sensible.
We breathlessly await his post on Harold Pinter. We expect it will mainly have to do with Pinter's recent comments that The United States is "… the greatest source of terrorism on earth." All else that Pinter has done will be buried under a landslide of fustiness, faux outrage, and harrumph harrumphs.
Whoops we see the Nobel Prize winner for Republican Rimming weighs in... as only he can:
Playwright Harold Pinter has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. I could be wrong--I'm not much of a theater critic--but I think it's been decades since Pinter wrote anything of consequence. His main interest now seems to be politics, as his web site reflects. Pinter is not our kind of guy; his site headlines this quote:
There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false. A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false.
A lot of leftists subscribe to this theory of epistemology. As a trial lawyer, I wouldn't try to sell Pinter's theory to a jury.
Possibly Hinderaker has skipped over the body of Pinter's work since it doesn't fall under 'whacking material'. That would explain a lot.
