Bush asks for Clinton's help
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE -- President Bush solicited foreign policy advice from former President Bill Clinton at CIA briefings this week and even told Mr. Clinton that he liked his approach to reforming Social Security.
'It was really a lot of fun, Mr. Bush told reporters yesterday after spending three days with Mr. Clinton and former President George Bush in Rome.
'These CIA briefings a lot of time prompt policy discussions,' he added. 'It's interesting to get their points of view about their experiences in particular countries.'
We of course remember this famous story about George Bush:
A recent New York Times article about George W. Bush's relationship with his father featured an amusing tidbit about the two men, whom it said were "loving but not exactly best buddies."
Turns out that in a 1992 interview, Dubya allowed that "Dad was shy."
"We never had 'the talk,' " he said, and with regard to the use of a condom he added, "He never told me to wear a 'raincoat' or anything."
That apparently never stopped Dubya from playing for laughs on the issue. During the 1988 Republican Convention, he was asked by a Hartford Courant reporter about what he and his father talked about when they weren't talking about politics.
"Pussy," Bush replied.
One imagines that had that subject been discussed on Air Force One, Dubya and Poppy would probably have been leaning forward like nervous twelve year-olds asking, "...and then what happened?"
