Bring me the head of Condoleeza Rice
Personally I have no intention of taking part in our "national healing" since I don't have that rare ability to forget what the past four years have been like (this would be the same ability that allows the "values" people to disregard the fact that their President is a former military-deserting, drunken, coke-snorting, insider-trading frat boy who runs like a bunny at the first sign of trouble). David at Orcinus points out that the honeymoon is already over.
It's not getting any better. Here's Adam Yoshida's idea of "building bridges":
Let’s face a hard truth: this was the bitterest Presidential campaign in living memory. The Democrats and their allies staked everything on the defeat of this President. All of the resources they had accumulated over a generation of struggle were thrown into this battle: and they have failed. Despite all of their tricks, despite all of their lies, the people have rejected them. They mean nothing. They are worth nothing. There’s no point in trying to reach out to them because they won’t be reached out to. We’ve got their teeth clutching the sidewalk and out boot above their head. Now’s the time to curb-stomp the bastards.
Wanna bet no conservatives will even flinch at this, either?
They want to build bridges? They can start by firing Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, and Tommy Thompson for gross incompetence. Cheney can take a medical leave and move back to Wyoming to raise lesbians. They can dump Spencer Abraham for never showing up at work. And George Bush has to go on national primetime TV and repeatedly kick Paul "Comb Sucker" Wolfowitz in the nuts until Wolfowitz starts bleeding from his Dumbo-sized ears.
Then, maybe, we'll talk.
