The swimsuit edition is sure to be a hit with the 18-35 year-old infidel demo....

This is NOT from the Onion.
Your tax dollars are at work on a new magazine for the Arab world.
After we finish bombing Iraq, Colin Powell's State Department has a plan to help win the hearts and minds of the populace in 22 Arab nations.
It plans to start publishing a lifestyle magazine for Arabs in the 18- to 35-year-old bracket that will showcase America - minus its politics and religion.
"Basically, it's a magazine that will reflect American lifestyle and culture," said Raphael Calis, project manager for the International Information Program at the State Department.
The name of the magazine is not yet finalized, but Janet Ottenberg and Richard Creighton - principals of Washington D.C.-based custom publisher The Magazine Group, which is handling the edit and design - said that the working title is simply "Hi."
"The idea came to us from our Arab staff," said Creighton. "The name's tested well; we should know for sure in the next two weeks."
Calis estimates that the five-year cost of the magazine will be under $20 million. The edit/design portion of the contract amounts to about $8 million - including $775,000 for the first year, when four issues of 50,000 circulation will be produced.
Ultimately, the State Department is hoping that circulation reaches 300,000 or more. Distribution, printing and marketing are going to be subcontracted to private firms.
The State Department even helps to sell about 10 pages of ads in the 72-page debut issue.
The Arabic-language publication "is going to be a newsstand, lifestyle, consumer magazine," said Creighton.
Creighton and Ottenberg, who already produce about 50 custom magazines - for companies ranging from Pitney Bowes to Hilton Hotels - will be the co-editorial directors. A Libyan, Fadeel Al-Ameen, is the managing editor; the staff also includes a Jordanian and a Syrian.
A number of magazine pros are also involved as consultants - including Randall Lane, former editor in chief of the young men's mag P.O.V., and Samir Husni, a Lebanese-born journalism professor at the University of Mississippi, best known for his research on the number of U.S. magazine launches each year. The cover price of Hi will be the equivalent of about $2.
Egypt, Jordan and Kuwait are on the distribution list, but will Iraq be among the 22 countries? "I hope that it is, but I don't know that it will," said Creighton.
"It's a window on America," he said. "The purpose is to try on increase understanding between two cultural groups."
Oh. My. God.
