    Pickin up the paper
    Coffee's been made
It's book review and Face the Nation time*

Calling me. Calling me.... Posted by Picasa

Sunday afternoon is always a good time for settling in with a good book as opposed to that other thing that is going on today. Here is a nice little piece on Harper Lee from The Guardian. It reminded me that I am mainly interested in seeing Capote to see Lee portrayed by the great Catherine Keener. Okay, I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman too, but Truman Capote lived so much of his life in the spotlight that I don't find his story near as compelling.

Lee's story is interesting in the way that shows how someone who has written one extraordinary book that has influenced so many, has managed to live such an ordinary life. One could take the story of Thomas Heggen as the darkside of Lee.

I wrote about To Kill A Mockingbird back here when I was just starting out blogging and trying to figure out what I was going to do with this thing that I do every day. It's cute in a 'stumbling around trying to find your voice" kind of way.

Every moment that I spend slogging through the internets looking for snark material is a moment when that I am not spending reading good books and, since I am a compulsive book buyer, I have hundreds sitting here waiting on me. I have actually reached the point where I don't mind sitting in waiting rooms because it pulls me away from the screen and plops me down with a book.

So, if you'll excuse me, I've got something that I have to do.

One Good Thing has an excellent post regarding Lee and courage here.
