Shhhhhhh....I'm reading
I haven't been posting much because I've been on a bit of a reading streak and I don't want to interrupt it. I'm currently halfway through Moneyball, which is a great read if you are interested in any of the following: baseball, economics, statistics, psychology, sabermetrics, and how we dream on what ballplayers might do, but often don't. You don't need to be a big baseball fan to enjoy it, but it helps.
Add to my reading binge the fact that, well, there's not much very earth-shattering going on. With the Bush administration having cut back on their daily atrocities to maybe once every three days, there's just not a lot to get excited about. As I do my daily bounce-around the blogs I see that quite a few are taking a timeout to get on with their lives, take a break, find a job in the Bush economy, or they're treading over the same old tired stories for days on end (there is not one good reason why we should still be discussing Jayson Blair at this point). With school letting out and summer starting up, it's like the end of a really crappy semester for all of us. War, increasing poverty, and famine (Just wait. The Bushies will manage to bring that on us too). And with summer, come the re-runs, in this case another run-up over ANWAR, Pickering, Owens, and Estrada. Is it any wonder that people are taking time off?
As for me, at least for this week, there's a lot going on with my daughter's graduation from Middle School and all the hoopla leading up to the ceremony on Friday. I've mentioned here before that my daughter goes to a small private Catholic school despite the fact that I'm (as Jim at Rittenhouse put it) a 'godless atheist', which makes it all the more intriguing that her graduation ceremony is part of a Friday evening mass. So, if you read about a freak lightining strike with fatalities hitting a small Catholic church in La Jolla, Ca this Friday....well, that means I was wrong about that whole "god" thing and I'll be in hell where I'll be forced to get a room ready to share with Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney, and Scott Stapp.
That would so suck.
