The discreet "accessible glamour" of Laura Bush.
According to the Washington Post she's a "high-velocity campaign asset second only to the vice president":
A senior Republican official said the first lady will be "a high-velocity campaign asset second only to the vice president," working cities President Bush skips and using her accessible glamour to turn her admirers into voters, donors and door-knockers.
"She's able to make women want to give, and able to make them want to participate," said the official, who asked not to be named because of Mrs. Bush's sensitivity about the limelight. "She's a trouper who will really work the crowd the way it needs to be worked. She's a very sought-after photograph."
The official said Laura Bush "embodies the compassionate side of the compassionate conservative agenda," while the president increasingly stresses national security at his stops, many of which are studded with military hardware. Bush's aides said they also believe the first lady appeals to the swing voters once called "soccer moms" and now known in Republican circles as "security moms."
Believe me, I know soccer moms, and I also know soccer moms don't call this "accessible glamour". Or this.
Credit the WaPo, though, for getting Laura Bush and the word "knockers" in the same sentence.
