Breaching the man-made erotosphere
Readers may remember all the way back to...Monday, when we introduced Esther Hartstein who is not yet a woman, never gonna be a political commentator. According to her online bio she's a "multi-award winning poet, Esther has written a book, "Eros Wins The Battle", about a U.S. immigrant fighting for regime change in her native country." Of course she doesn't point out that her book is self-published at 1st Book, not that there's anything wrong with that. So what kind of poetry does Esther write that win "multi-awards"? I'm glad you asked:
Upon the hilltop, two lovers sat
In loving silence, in each other’s laps
Holding on to precious breaths
Passing through their heavenly nest
Made of shoddy grass and leaves
that clung to the rocky Andes peak
So frigid, the unearthly cold
that clung to their refuge from the madness below
where cops had seized a poor man’s home
Cast him out to the frigid cold
with not a stitch beneath his soles
Yes, injustice had besieged the hearts
of those whose love no war could thwart
in a war-sick nation wrenched apart
beneath the peaks where none find sleep
And gangs do plot among shanty keeps
where a homeless nation calls its shelter.
No word of real or raging threats
pass through the lovers’ word’s own tents
to breach the man-made erotosphere
No words at all does Eros hear!
Have they no thoughts of aught but fear?
This saddest of truths struck Eros’s heart
His wisdom-gilded pillars did part
allowing the pain to freeze his home
Now the Temple of love had become a tomb
While this does not qualify for Bad Sea Monkey Poetry...I think they may make an exception.
